Abundance Midwifery Service is a midwife-owned practice that serves Austin, TX, and surrounding cities. We provide prenatal care as well as home and birth center delivery options. In addition, payment plans are available for self-pay customers and those with out of network insurance coverage.
Our Professional Services
Our services include pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum care. We also offer well woman care, nutritional counseling, family planning, gynecology, preconception counseling, and placenta encapsulation. Lastly, our team can provide prescriptions as required for established clients.

The scope of services covers risk assessment and management of clinical conditions of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum for mother and/or newborn up to and including:

Midwifery care for pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum

Initial physical examination and history (nonrefundable)

Routine prenatal examinations

Every 4-5 weeks until 28 weeks

Every 2 weeks between 28 weeks and 36 weeks

Weekly from 36 weeks until birth

1 home visit at 36-37 weeks for home birth clients

On-call access starting at 36 weeks for labor and birth

Labor and birth attended by midwife and birth assistant in client home

Postpartum visits (maternal and newborn)

At 2 or 3 days including lactation support (home visit)

At 2 weeks (in office)

At 6 weeks including family planning services and/or counseling (in office)

Routine maternal and newborn labs including specimen collection

Initial OB profile blood test including blood type (ABO) and Rh factor, complete blood count (CBC), rubella (German measles) and antibody screen, as well as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), syphilis, and hepatitis B. New OB labs also include urinalysis, urine culture, gonorrhea and chlamydia, Papanicolaou screen for cervical cancer (Pap) and human papilloma virus (HPV) (if due), and/or hepatitis C (if birth tub use is desired).

Testing for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B as required by the State of Texas at the:

Initial prenatal visit, and
-
Third trimester (28 weeks or later for HIV and syphilis), and for hepatitis B, at time of delivery.

Glucose tolerance test and CBC at 26-28 weeks

Group B strep screening at 36-37 weeks

Cord blood testing (ABO, Rh factor, direct antibody test)

Costs & Payments
Pregnancy services not included in the global fee are described in our contract for services. Contact us for descriptions and fees for other services.
There is a separate facility fee for birth center use.
We offer a payment plan for self pay clients totalling $6,000.00. It is designed to be paid in full by 37 weeks gestation.
If we're not in network with your insurance provider we offer the same cost and plan. We'll also file claims to inform insurers when you pay us.
