Denise is a doula, mother, student-midwife, and business entrepreneur. She’s originally from Kansas City, KS and has been living in the Austin area for nine years. Denise began her career journey in 2001 as a doula and childbirth educator at a young women’s pregnancy shelter in Kansas City. She decided to become a midwife in 2010, but first took time off to adjust after moving to her new city of Austin, TX. In 2015, she started volunteering her doula services for GALS (Giving Austin Labor Support) and was hired as a program coordinator at Mama Sana Vibrant Women in 2017. By 2019, Denise had shifted her focus to providing childbirth support for families of color on her own terms, founding a business called Delivering Unto You. Her mission is to change the way the black community views and receives maternal support and care.
